Prepare content

Spend time to prepare before having a presentation. A good presentation contains your content and your emotion, which go hand in hand.

To start planning what you say, follow these steps:

  • Brainstorm ideas based on presentation’s topics
  • Prepare an outline of the information
  • Write the information on a single sheet of paper. It’ll support you during your presentation
  • Make sure you have enough time to say

Make sure you clear your purpose of the presentation. Understanding your audience is the important key to any presentation. Almost all audiences always care about what they think, and what they want so don’t talk outside the audience’s views.

Create an easy-to-follow structure

Your presentation must have 3 parts which are introduction, body, and conclusion.

Introduction: Use the first few seconds to make a first impression on your audience. Your introduction part needs to summarize the main point of a presentation, and why it’s helpful to your audience.

Move to the body part. All the evidence, facts are shown to support your main points. Stick to the audience’s needs and wants to attract your listeners.

Delivery key messages in your conclusion. You should give that message very briefly, in no more than 15 words.

Have a strong opening

The introduction and conclusion part will make different results for your presentation. Create a unique style with your opening to make up the audience’s mind.

Ask a question: A yes/no question or rhetorical question is a great way to introduce your topics. Audiences will focus more on your presentation to explore the answer.

Tell a story: Stories help listeners pay attention more. It’s a different idea to start with a story, but you need to make your presentation like a story. You can explore the way to create a story behind your presentation with much useful storytelling for presentations online courses

Follow slideshows rules

A good presentation has a clear slideshow, focus on the main points will make audiences catch up with the information easily. Many speakers in the world suggest you should design your slide to follow the 10-20-30 rule

  • Less than 10 slides
  • Last no more than 20 minutes
  • Use a font size of at least 30 points.

For a good presentation, too much text distracts the audience so that they don’t look at you. Don’t write more than 6 words per slide. You should choose your words carefully and rewrite them until you’ve got it just right.

Slides are present tools, not text that you read. You need to explain the information on the sideshow to your audiences.

Focus on design details

A slide design can make or break a presentation result. Don’t think too hard when creating presentation slides. A clear, simple, and easy-to-see slideshow is more attractive.

Choose a slide color carefully. Use bright colors, but don’t apply too many. Use the colors which are most relevant to your topic and your message. Avoid yellow and orange because it is too hard to see from a distance.

Using presentation templates is also a great way to make your slides visually balanced. To select a template, choose a topic-based template or style-based template.

With topic-based templates, they are fully designed with color thếm, graphics, images, and more. Your task is simply to insert content and graphics.

On the other hand, style-based templates are freer. You can change colors and visuals that fit your eyes. You can show your design skills on your slides.

BONUS: Practice presentation skills

Try to practice every day to have a perfect presentation. You should rehearse in various positions, such as stand up, sit down, use body language, or more. The more you mix up your position, the more comfortable when you speak.

The most important presentation skill is speaking in front of crowds. If you aren’t confident, do practice with your friends, family, or colleagues. Record your presentation and play it back to learn from experiences.
